Nice video about Thailand. It conveys the atmosphere of the country very good.

Thai Boxing – grinder.
It is believed that this is a demonstration performance, but the American wrestlers are green with envy!
I demand the prize “For the will to win” for the fighter in red shorts.
Geckos at home.
Hooray! In our apartment there are geckos
Even in Thailand, I suggested that we would miss these funny little animals. Happily I bought some fake tailed beauties of rubber and a few of rag-stuffed with fine sand. Those that are made of rubber, even at a closer look are almost 100% similar to the original.
In Thailand geckos are in each house, nobody pays attention to them. They are ot visible during the day time, but at night there are lots of them near lights, they are hunting.
There is just one nuance, our geckos do not produce sounds: (
Those who rent a house on Koh Samui.
We rented a house at a wonderful woman named Nee. I would like to write a word of gratitude to “our old lady,” as we tenderly called her, and her family) The house was just wonderful. The help of the house owner in questions of our construction and a comfortable life has been simply invaluable. Her niece, Chana manages all economic issues, such as lawn care, communication with the Internet service provider, the organization of small repairs, etc. Any our request was carried out almost immediately.
When my son became ill, Miss Nee by her car very quickly brought us to the hospital.
She is not cooperating with real estate companies, as far as I know, just hangs a couple of ads about house rent. That is, when renting a house from her, you will not have to pay the agency extra fee)
Miss Nee has a gift shop on the ring road, very close to our village. So it was always possible to quickly turn on a question.
Here is the e-mail of her niece Chana ![]()
You can write her and discuss all the conditions of house rent. She speaks pretty good English.
You can see more photos in the post House rent in Lamai, Koh Samui
Grand Palace in Bangkok.
Within the cultural program we decided to visit the Royal Palace in Bangkok. We went there with Sasha, Dima stayed at the hotel, for some reason he’s not really attracted to masterpieces of Thai architecture)))
The Royal Palace was built in 1782 by order of King Rama I. The complex includes not only the royal residence and throne halls, but several government buildings and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Occupies an area of 218 square meters and is surrounded by a wall of 1,900 meters in length. At present, the King of Thailand lives in another palace, but in the Grand Palace official ceremonies are held.
The palace complex is huge. This is not only a historical monument, but a religious sanctuary and a museum under the open sky. Everything that shines like gold there, is gold! Temples and other buildings are covered with gold leaf and decorated with precious stones. Almost to all the buildings you can go through a long gallery, which walls are decorated with scenes from the life of Rama.
Also at the territory of the complex there is a miniature of the temple complex in Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Siam, which in 1767 the Burmese captured and burned. I’d like to see this ancient city in real.
I was impressed by the Temple of the Emerald Buddha- the most sacred of all Buddhist world. The incredible beauty of the temple, the rich decorations within and among all this magnificence on a gold pedestal the Buddha is sitting on the throne. He is dressed in golden clothes, which are replaced three times a year, in summer, in winter and at rainy season. Despite the fact that the place, in general, is tourist in this temple silence and grace prevail, that just can not be described in words. In general, the Emerald Buddha is carved from a single piece of jade. It was found in 1434 in Chiang Mai province. At that time the image was covered with plaster and the monk who had found it noticed that the plaster on the nose had flaked off, revealing the green stone underneath. The monk thought that the stone was emerald.
In front of the temple there are large bowls with holy water and lotus flowers. You can dip a flower into the water and sprinkle the head, hands and body. It’s a kind of Buddhist blessing. Who refuses blessing?))) Me and Sasha have carefully sprinkled with lotuses.
In another temple at the complex the action was carried out, it was Buddhist holiday and tourists were not allowed there. We just sat there and listened to amazing Thai prayer chants, very beautiful.
At the complex there is a museum of weapons. It’s small, but the number of exhibits is quite impressive. Well, there my child was impressed more than me)
Remember that on the territory of the Palace complex one can not go in shorts and short skirts, T-shirts and T-shirts with a neckline, stretch pants. If you have come in inappropriate clothing, then at the entrance you can rent clothes. Before you enter the temple take off shoes. It is necessary to step over the threshold of the temple, but not to step on it. And in any case do not aim your foot in the direction of the Buddha, it is very insulting. Although, in principle, the Thai are rather lenient to Farangs in questions of Buddhist ethics.
Entry to the Palace costs 350 Baht.
We liked it very much. The place is worth a visit.
Siam Ocean World in Bangkok.
Being in a shopping mall Siam Paragon, we visited the local aquarium, located in the underground level of shopping mall. Dima did not go with us, as he had already seen fish in Pattaya at a local aquarium.
Entrance fee is 900 Baht per adult and 700 Baht for children above 80 cm
I not for a second regretted the money, because the aquarium is excellent!
A huge number of tanks with a variety of fish and other sea inhabitants. My child was delighted and ran from one tank to another, shouting – Mom, it’s all about the fish from the movie about Nemo!
One of the premises is a gallery with glass walls and domed ceiling. Directly above us various types of sharks, stingrays and huge sea turtles swam.
There is a room with a full glass wall from the floor up to the ceiling, through which people can observe the life of the inhabitants of tropical reefs, listening to nice music and relaxing at the comfortable sofas.
Also in the aquarium there are differents species of snakes, lizards, amphibians and insects presented.
For an additional fee you can even swim under water with sharks, but I have not dared at an experiment)))
So, it’s really “must seen”!
Bangkok- our reviews.
We left Koh Samui our sweet home
All good things come to the end
While being to Samui I regreted that we have planned to spend four days in Bangkok. And I was right
It’s too much for the mind, accustomed to a steady life on the island.
Bangkok reminds me a boiling pot with strange guck. It’s hot, stuffy and stinks. Huge skyscrapers coexist with dilapidated shack. On the streets there is dirt, huge cockroaches and rats are running. On the roads there is a continuous stream of cars and motorbikes, do not dry out even at night. Smog over the city is visible to the naked eye.
In general, Elena is crying for Samui, Alex is crying for Nilokaev, I don’t care, I have an ear pain, so I take antibiotics and pain relief medicines and ear drops.
For the future, you just have to remember that you should go to Bangkok at the beginning of the trip. There are great prices and it’s the only thing that somehow justifies this visit. Before you go on a trip to Thailand, you can call in to Bangkok and buy some things, everything here is 50% cheaper.
We were lucky to book Bangkok City Hotel at agoda, the hotel is very good, I’ll write about it later.
Small report about visited places.
We went to Khaosan Road
MBK shopping mall
Siam Paragon- there we visited Siam Ocean World (I’ll write a post about it)
Pantip Plaza (Computer city)
China Town
But before going do not visit Bangkok
This is just a killer for your psyche.
When quiet and amazing air of the islands changes to Bangkok pudding of eateris’ odors, standing right on the roadside, and the scent of exhaust gases, you just want to howl and change tickets for an earlier date.
We had also been to Pratunam market, it’s not interesting there. Tomorrow we’ll visit several temples and the Grand Palace and then we’ll come back home. We leave at 3 a.m. See you soon.
P.S. A huge hello to our islanders! It’s hard to part with you, because thanks to you, our life on Koh Samui was so enjoyable. We love you very much and look forward to next meet!

AngTong National Marine Park.
We decided before going to Bangkok to visit the islands, wanted the maximum stock up memories of the warm and clear water of the Gulf of Siam. In addition, at home it is snow and frost, and we soon will test their strength on the skin)
National Marine Park Angtong is an archipelago of 42 islands Gulf of Siam. It is located to the north-west of Koh Samui and covers an area about 100 square kilometers The islands of limestone covered with evergreen forests and surrounded by coral reefs. The sea here is crystal clear and warm.
At 7:30 we were picked up by minibus and drove to the pier where we boarded a boat and sailed to the islands. It took about 1.5 hour. The first item of the program was kayaking along the coast of the island of Mae. Under the direction of the guide, we rowed along the shore, sailing under the rocks and enjoying the beautiful views.
We were given waterproof bags, so all the valuables were safe.
When we landed on the beach, Sasha and I stayed on the shore sunbathing and swimming, and Lena went to the mountain to the view point, which overlooks the green lagoon, salt lake, surrounded by rocks inside the island.
Then on longteyle we returned to the boat, where we waited quite a decent and tasty lunch.
Then we went to the island of Wua Ta Lap. From the boat to the island one could sail by longtail or by kayak. We took kayak and didn’t regret. The places are really beautiful there… Especially we were enthralled by the small secluded beaches surrounded by reefs, they can not be seen until you try to get there.
On the islands, according to the guide, there are no snakes. But there are cicadas, I would like to note a very loud insects. We saw a few monkeys, wild and shy, they did not go down from the trees. We had a lot of snorkelling, there is fish in the sea, but little in comparison with Egypt.
As a result, I can clearly say for sure, this tour is a must-visit, take the tour with kayaking included. We likу it very much.
And here is a little video so you better appreciate the atmosphere of this place
Well, now, in fact, the findings
I began to think more often of making trip around the world
On the yacht ![]()
A lot of people are traveling such a way, mostly elderly Europeans and Americans. Imagine how many secluded corners there are on our globe) How amazing is to watch at night the myriad of stars twinkling in the sky, and fall asleep with the squeaking rocking gear and rolling waves. As a child I was dreaming about the sea, I constantly drew the sea and the ships. I had grown, and somehow this fascination with the artistic attempts came to naught. By the way, my friend and I once nearly bought a yacht, but apparently it was not the time.
It is clear that before realize this dream one should at least earn on this boat, learn to rule, make a test swim in the Black and Mediterranean seas. But you must also seek for something specific, not just to earn enough money …
You say that this is an incredible lot of green presidents, I agree, but that’s my dream …
Where to have good meals in Samui.
We have visited many bars and restaurants, the best cafes where you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner are collected in the review.
In Thailand there is a problem with European food, there are little places where one can eat good steak, for instance. The cafes propose Thai menu, fried rice, Pad Thai, Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups. Usually they cook their dishes very good. But sometimes most common food is needed, though we like Thai cuisine very much
If you visit Lamai beach at Koh Samui, come to the restaurants listed below.
“At Saan, Burmese”
The top of our list. Both Thai and European cuisine is great here. We visited this cafe most often, when we didn’t want to eat at home or just wanted to walk in the evening. Saan’s husband is a wonderful cooker. Thei interior is poor, but still the food is great here.
I recommend: Tom Yum, Tom Kha, Cheesburger with french fries, Fried Prawns with vegetables and cashew nuts.
It is situated at Lamai Beach road beside the bridge, if to go from the ring road.
“Irish Pub Shamrock”
Here they cook excellent chicken a-la Kiev. Yes, I was shocked))) And only here they serve apple cider Magners, very tasty drink, and of course the Guinnes!) Also Lena recommends to try the chicken steak and shepherd’s meat pie.
It is situated at Lamai Beach road 50m from McDonald’s, on the right side of the street.
“Pizzeria Napoli”
In this pizzeria we ate good cream pizza. I had never eaten anything like this.
It is situated at the right side of Lamai Beach road infront of “69 Slam” shop.
“The Outback”
Here omlettes are great, they just melt in the mouth. I ate beefburger, the cookers were not afraid to join in the stuffing fresh pineapple and beetroot, until tried, I could not believe it would be so delicious.
And more vivid impression pork chop with french fries and vegetables left, very tasty!
It is situated at the left side of Lamai beach road if to go to Hin Ta Hin Yai.
“Ta’s Cafe”
This cafe is situated not far from our house, near Vanda House hotel. Miss Ta cooks great Pad Thai and fried rice. Wi-Fi is free there. The cafe is very nice and stylish.
Bon appetit
Everyday life in Samui-3.
We are leaving soon
Personally, I have missed my homeland, increasingly want to go home, I would like to see parents and friends, too. My son from time to time asks when he will go for a walk with his grandmother)) But my wife does not want to come back home
She loves to live here.
In Our everyday life in Samui and Everyday life in Samui-2 one can read how it have been when we just have arrived to Samui.
We try to go to the beach more often sunbathing and swimming. But when there are waves and the water is cloudy, we go to the swimming pool at the hotel located near the sea. Pool is excellent, with jacuzzi, etc.
Recently, at night it was the attack of some flying insects, reminded Stephen King novel “The Dark Half” ))) But our geckos were happy, blissfully overeat.
The life is well underway, every day is like the previous one, and I such a stability makes me feel oppressed. Again, I want something new. Soon we go to Bangkok
And then go home.
Specially for Max, the most cute massage girl, to my taste, of course
