The pictures of Greenland in summer.

Photographer James Balog from National Geographic has provided interesting pictures of Greenland, which were made in the summer. Greenland  is the largest island on the planet, which is covered by ice. The island belongs to Denmark. Nuuk City is one of the largest cities in Greenland, its population is no more than 15 thousand people. Photos made in an interesting ways. The cameras are installed in specific locations and are charged by solar energy. Cameras are water- and windproof. In one year, each of the 35 installed  cameras make up to 12 000 images, which allows the scientists to monitor the evolution of melting ice.

The photographer descends into a round hole, which has been created inthe ice.

During the melting of ice, water flows into a very deep natural well.

Here is one of the canyons of Greenland, which appeared as a result of melting ice. The ice thickness is sometimes up to 700 meters.

50-meter canyon.

The black spot you see in the picture is a mixture of dust, emissions from power plants and diesel engines. Because of these spots melting is much faster.

Such air bubbles in the ice, are the product of bacteria activity.

The dusty snow that can be seen in this photo, always lies near the well. The snow has such a color because of the water, which washes the dust.

The photograph descends into the well with snow melt water.

Jade Mountain Resort – hotel at Caribbean.

I propose to estimate one more top and expensive hotel- Jade Mountain Resort.  This time, set sail from Asia and take a look at the Caribbean. Tis resort for the riches is located at Santa Lucia- one of the Caribbean Islands.

By the way, the architect and the owner of the hotel is a Canadian of Russian origin, Nick Troubetzkoy

The price for the room starts from $1100 per night.

But as it is seen from the pictures, everything here is made for proper rest.

All the rooms are differebt, but only one is common for all- there are no corners and the 4th wall. The architect really did all his best in order the guests don’t feel constrained.

You can even take a shower at open air.

A swimming pool with jacuzzi will certainly go out to the sea with a view of the Jade Mountain

The views at Santa-Lucia islands are really worht-while.

The giests are served up by perfectly trained staff and top chef. And while eating, you can again delight the eyes with all sorts of nice views.

Incidentally I wonder what they do when the rainy season begins.

Swimming pool with a woman. (she probably is not included in the room price))

A curious fact – the rooms  have no radio, no TV, no telephones. So that the guests can fully indulge in relaxation. And yes, all rooms are made using only natural materials – coral, precious woods, etc.

And if someone is afire with enthusiasam to have a rest in this hotel- here are the contacts.

How to have a great holiday in Bali. Photos and tips.

Bali is a magical island. I bought tickets and booked hotels by myself on the Internet without any travel agency, I have traveled around the island for three weeks. The Balinese are very good hospitable people, very religious. You will not taken in by them, do not even think about picking and stealing.

Must do:
1. Visit the spa. It is very good and very cheap there.
2. Buy yourself and buy for gifts natural soap, as much as you can.
3. Buy much coffee, tea and cocoa.
4. Buy local chocolates and chocolate.

If you go to Uluwata- and you must definitely go there- it’s very beautiful there and beware of monkeys.

I do not advise you to rent a car. The roads are very narrow and silly traffic with no rules. Rent a car with driver- it’s cheap.

The best course was at the airport. Do not exchange money in hotels-there is the most unfavorable course reception.
Keep receipts for currency exchange, because you may need it at the airport for the exchange of Indonesian rupees into another currency. You can use credit cards American Express (AMEX), VISA, Master. Traveler’s checks are accepted in hotels and exchange offices. In Bali, it is difficult to exchange notes USD until 1996, denominations of less than 100 USD, USD 50 bills in taken by undervalued exchange rate, banknotes from 1 to 20 USD – not accepted.

Bali is a wonderful country for the rest. But we must remember a few things.

Use only bottled water (also for cooking)
Use insect repellents
Swimming in areas with corals, use rubber slippers.
In Bali, do not point fingers to anyone or touch someone’s head.
Manifestations of affection in public are not allowed.
Do not shout, do not be angry.
Do not cast your foot on the leg so that your foot was directed on someone.
Do not start talking about politics.
One should not eat with left hand or give something to other people as traditionally left hand in Indonesia is used for washing after defecation.

These are the conventionalities adopted in this society and remember that we are the guests here, so let’s just have fun.

A car in exchange for sterilization- India.

In India, Radjasthan, the company to controle sharp increase of population has started. The state autorities propose women and men free sterilization in exchange for a new car and other prizes that will be raffled off in a lottery.

The Indian authorities are concerned about population growth in the country, which is expected by 2030 to overtake China in population.

According to the UN Fund for Population (UNFPA), the total fertility rate in India – that is, the average number of children born by each woman – is 2.588, indicating the extremely rapid growth.

As suggested by Sitaram Armagh, chief physician of the district Dzhhundzhunu in western India, the opportunity to get a car in ownership will be sufficient for at least 20 000 members of both sexes to undergo sterilization.

Among of prizes, besides the cheapest car in the world – the Indian Tata Nano -there are motorcycles, televisions and kitchen blenders.

This offer applies to all Indians, not only for residents of arid Dzhhundzhunu, as other regions of India also conducted a similar voluntary program to controle over population.

In India in the 1970s, a nationwide family planning program was held, when initiated by Sandzhey Gandhi, the son of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the man who had two or more children, were forced to undergo deferentectomy.

But it was obligatory and therefore caused a lot of criticism and was abandoned.
